Goliam Beglik Dam

Golyam Beglik is a reservoir near the central parts of the Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria. It was formerly officially called the Vasil Kolarov reservoir.

Nature

The dame coast is populated with pine forest which makes it good for camping. Pine forests are not very dense so there are a lot of space for your tent, caravan or van.

Camping Site

Not official camping site - no water, no electricity, no toilets. If you want to make a BBQ or grill something do not rely on the pine wood it is not suitable for cooking.

  • You can go around the dam with your mountain bike - the trial is good and used by a lot of bikers. So it is in good condition
  • You may look for an organised canoe or kayak trip to the dam island.

How long you should stay?

A long weekend will be fine. You can stay 3-5 days depending on how well you can live outside the grid. A longer stay can become boring.

The nearest village is about 40km aways - double check if you have everything necessary.
